CV's

  • First impressions are everything

  • Format your CV so that it is easy to read

  • Make it easy for the recruiter to see your experience, skills and suitability for the role

  • Cluttered or wordy formats can quickly lose the attention of the person you are trying to impress

  • Ensure that there are no spelling or grammatical errors

  • Use action orientated words instead of passive ones e.g.  "managed a team of six" instead of "gave work assignments to employees"

  • Always be truthful.  Don't overstate your experience - you're likely to be asked detailed questions about it in your interview

  • Try to keep your CV to 2 sides of A4 size

  • Remember to include more than one way of being contacted.  Include your home phone number, mobile number and email address
